The Fortune Teller

Most of us are familiar with the idea of the fortune teller machine - the all-knowing, future predicting box that eats up the change in our pockets at the pier or carnival. Of course, the fortunes we receive are general and randomized, but sometimes we like to tell ourselves that they were made just for us. This game of pretend is exciting.

Created in 2018, The Fortune Teller is an installation that tells the story of the apathetic psychic. The Fortune Teller still ejects fortunes, but they are underwhelming.  "Try again later.", "Answer is unclear.", or "Better not to tell you..." 

What happens when we don't get what we're looking for? The illusion of the all-knowing seer is broken, as we see into the world behind the machine.
